Yvon Dorchies

Yvon Xavier Dorchies,
74 years of age, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. and native of Rumes, Belgium. Yvon was a loving and devoted husband and father. He began his career with the Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm in Europe and later worked for General Electric as Divisional Manager for GEs Brussels office. Yvon and Marie came to the United States in 1980 when he joined Uniroyal Chemical as a Financial Manager in Middlebury, CT., where he worked for nineteen years. He moved his family to Baton Rouge in 1999 when he joined Rubicon and continued his work as Financial Director until he retired in 2009. Yvon was a master woodworker, building exquisite crafted furniture and cabinets. He was fluent in seven languages however, he never mastered Cajun. Yvon loved the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, serving as its Financial Manager for years. He learned to fish for speckled trout and red fish, as fishing in the Delacroix area became his passion.

Yvon is survived by his wife, Marie Claire Dorchies and his daughter, Isabelle Rose Dorchies, who was the apple of her fathers eye.

Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, on Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 2:00 pm until service time. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm.
