A retired Ethyl Corp. employee with 35 years of service and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Woodrow W. Snyder was born on Nov. 3, 1918, in Baywood. He died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Flannery Oaks Guest House. He was 89 and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Malabar as a motor machinist's mate. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Glen Miers, associate pastor of Zoar Baptist Church. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn Rose Karns Snyder, Baton Rouge; daughter and son-in-law, Judith Snyder Milam and Walter G. Milam, Central; daughter-in-law and husband, Juanita and Mike Earnheart, Central; six grandchildren, Brett LeBlanc and wife Regina, Prairieville, Steve LeBlanc and Janet Wells, Baton Rouge, Gary LeBlanc, Central, Jessica Snyder and Justin Snyder, both of Baton Rouge, Jordan Snyder, Bossier City; two stepgrandsons, Jason Milam, Prairieville, and Benjamin Milam and wife Tara, Jackson, Miss.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Erica, Matthew, Autumn, Brandon, Carlyn, Drew and Christina LeBlanc, Devin, Cici and Gwen Milam; many special nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sue Anderson, Spring, Texas. Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Maud Drury Snyder; two sons, Woodrow W. Snyder Jr. and Christopher E. Snyder; brother, Drury L. Snyder Sr.; and two sisters, Ellen Snyder Carr and Mildred Snyder. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brett and Steve LeBlanc, Justin and Jordan Snyder and Jason and Ben Milam. Honorary pallbearer is Gary LeBlanc. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Memorial donations may be made to Zoar Baptist Church.
