Winnie Hubbard Grissom died at 2:47 PM, Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the Carpenter House.
She was 90 years old, a native of Greg County, Texas, and a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She graduated from Central High School in 1947, where she played basketball and was the drum majorette. She retired from the Baton Rouge Clinic after 25 years of service. She was a fabulous cook and a talented seamstress.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Jefferson Highway on Tuesday, February 8, from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday, February 9, from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM, conducted by Glen Miers. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Winnie is survived by her sons, William “Billy” Grissom and wife Sylvia, Robert “Bob” Grissom and wife Diana, and James Grissom; daughter, Sue Grissom and husband Ray; grandchildren, Jennifer Grissom Estell, Lindsay Grissom, Marshall Spurlock, and Emily Spurlock; great-grandchildren, Railee Terry and Malakai Sanders; sister Wanda Hubbard Smith, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James S. Grissom; parents, Floyd and Ruby Hubbard; brothers, Gerald and James Hubbard; and sister, Eleanor Henry.
Pallbearers will be Bo Hubbard, Matt Hubbard, John Hubbard, Stephen Hubbard, Boyd Causey, and Stan Estell.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice at the Carpenter House.
