Bill Simmons, age 74, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
He was born July 31, 1942 in Magnolia, Mississippi to Mary Eleanor Pope Simmons and Bonnie Brown Simmons. At age six, he moved with his family to Baton Rouge, where he remained a life-long resident. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of Jefferson Baptist Church.
Bill leaves behind a family that he cherished very much: his loving and dedicated wife of forty-six years, Jeanne Marie Weingartner Simmons; two wonderful children and their spouses, Donna Marie Simmons Armstrong and her husband Duane, and Mark Randolph Simmons and his wife Jill Melissa; three very special grandchildren, Emma Grace and Evan Garrett Armstrong, and Sebastian Finn Simmons. He is survived by sisters, Joyce S. Bourgeois and her husband Harold, Mavis S. Beard, and a brother, Cory Simmons and his wife Rebecca.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Sherra S. Ruegg and Paula Antoinette Simmons; a brother, Paul Randolph Simmons; and two brothers-in-law, Ronald Ruegg and Warren Beard.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA, 70816 on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, from 12:00pm until Funeral Service at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
