William Roy

Bill
passed away peacefully at his house on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. He was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on September 10, 1951. Bill was a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His career as a truck parts salesman spanned 30 years with various companies, including Margot Truck Service, Truck Pro, and Timmons Truck Center. Bill retired in 2005. Bill was a loving generous soul who loved life. Bill enjoyed Cajun dancing, Mardi Gras celebrations, being with family and friends, as well as his beloved dogs, Cletus and Claire. Bill was passionate about his hobby, collecting and displaying his diecast model car replicas which he would eagerly share with family and friends. Bill was proud of his museum of cars, which brought him numerous hours of enjoyment. Despite his many challenges he displayed amazing courage and lived life to the fullest. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a remarkable sense of humor and loved Amazon, Ebay, and DieCast Direct. Bill loved to cook for others. He married the love of his life, Arlene Johnson, of New Roads, Louisiana in 1997. Their 17 years of marriage were some of the best years of his life, by tremendous devotion, love, friendship, and fun. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brotherinlaw, and uncle.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Arlene Johnson Roy daughters, Piper Root of Conyers, Georgia, and Shelly Hudgens of McDonough, Georgia four grandchildren, Alex Hudgens, Justice Root, Aubree Root, and Chris Root brotherinlaw, Kerry Johnson sisterinlaw, Natalie Mayeux, and husband Robert Mayeux and one nephew Lexus Mayeux. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Roy and Ethelyn Bernard Roy a son, Alex Roy and his beloved dog, Spike. Tremendous gratitude is expressed to Dr. Meredith Warner for her unwavering support, kindness and tenacity in addressing Bills numerous health challenges. Special thanks is extended as well to the friends of Bill and Arlene Roy, including Angelika, Hal, Paul, Nellie, Debra, Phyllis, and Susan as well as other friends too numerous to mention.

Visitation will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 11:00am until service at 2:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
