William Powers retired from the U.S. Navy with 16 years of service and was a Baton Rouge municipal assistant signal shop supervisor with the traffic engineering department. He died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at 10 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 56 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Military service at Port Hudson National Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17. Survived by his wife, Violeta Powers; stepson, Agenor Dolmuz; and nephew, Frank Somarriha.
