William Carter Milton, W.C., 71, of Baton Rouge, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, from mesothelioma at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 17, 1940, in Walker, the middle child of three. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. He retired from Borden Chemical as an operation supervisor after more than 35 years of service. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed rebuilding and restoring antique clocks and firearms. He served as a board member of Friends of the NRA in Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Wilson Milton who died during World War II. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Faye L. Milton mother, Willie Belle Duff Milton sister, Sonja Milton Peterson brother, George Norwood Milton and wife Faye children, W. Lee Milton, and Brett L. Milton and wife Mary and only grandson, Blake L. Milton. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, July 5, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Dr. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Joey Beeson. Burial with military honors at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Scott Talbot, Glenn Talbot, Dana Vutera, Bobby Font, Kraig Peterson and Cliff Milton. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Cutrer, Richard Hardgrave, Anthony Buddy Vutera, Kim Goetzmann, Larry Thomas and John Ray Impson. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, 1317 King St., Alexandria, VA 22314 or St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
