William Alton McLain, 88, resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on December 22, 2021.
William was born in Franklinton, LA, and graduated from Franklinton High School in 1951. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with Honors in Hammond, LA in 1955. He served his country honorably as part of the Regular Army in South Korea. He started employment with the General Gas Corporation, and eventually retired from Amoco Oil Company (now BP Corporation). He loved travelling the country and RV camping for over 37 years.
William is survived by his second wife, Bonnie A. McLain; sons, John P. McLain and wife, Wendy, and W. Bruce McLain and wife Carmen; grandchildren, Miranda L. McLain, Melissa Q. McLain, Benjamin Lopez, and Rebecca Lopez; stepdaughters, Shelley Helouin and husband, Randy, and Tanya Browning and husband, Don; along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Milton McLain and Lura Burris McLain; stepmother, Oleta G. McLain; sisters, Lorelle Wood Magee and husband, William, and Ora Marie Fussell and husband, Clyde; wife, Mildred P. McLain; and stepson, Stan Arnold.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Resthaven Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until services at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
