I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Our precious daddy is now reunited with his love, our mom, Joy. His heart is now whole again. Bill was born September 7, 1932, in Liberty, Mississippi, and passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the age of 80. He graduated from Mississippi College in August 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in the Philippines during the Korean War. Bill loved fishing and aviation. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, he obtained his private pilots license which he held for 40 years. He most recently was employed as the manager of All American Loans in Zachary, Louisiana. Bill never met a stranger. His smile was contagious. He is survived by a son, William Derr McElwee and wife Elizabeth three daughters, Lisa White and husband Mike, Monica Pemberton and husband Rick, and Joycelyn Gunby and husband Jeff five grandchildren, Bradley McElwee, Jill White Miller, Mark White, Kyle and Bailey Gunby seven great grandchildren, Connor and Carson McElwee, Collin and Luke Miller, Gabriella Ducharme, Brody Goodly, and Cade McElwee. He is also survived by his motherinlaw, Bertha Achord four sistersinlaw, Jan Diez, Sue Robert, Sharon Dixon, and BJ Achord his boss and dear friend, Howard Lindsey secretary, friend, and right hand woman, Ms. Gail Johnson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joycelyn Achord McElwee, his parents, Nolan McElwee and Bertha Welch McElwee Schrimpf, sister Martha McElwee Roucher, brother, Nolan Derr Butler McElwee, and nephew, Danny Bankston. Visitation will be Thursday, February 28, at Resthaven Funeral Home from 5:008:00 pm and continues Friday morning at 8:30 until religious services at 10:00 am, conducted by Roy Lively. He will be laid to rest next to his sweetheart in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Mark White and Kyle Gunby, nephews, Chris and David Bankston, grandsoninlaw, Shane Miller, and special friend, Greg Vidrine. The family would like to say a special Thank You to Drs. Civello, Miletello, Murrill and Rehn for their kindness and compassion they have shown in caring for our daddy.
