A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 1:06 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 80 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Tom Duhe, celebrant. Cryptside military service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. He is survived by his wife, Margie M. Johnson; daughter, Lisa J. Johnson, of Baton Rouge; son, William L. Johnson III, of Mandeville; sister, Joyce Thrasher and husband W.T., of Knoxville, Tenn.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jordan and Carolyn Johnson, of Dickson, Tenn., L. Dan and Linda Johnson, of Hixon, Tenn., Harry and Barbara Johnson, of Richardson, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, William L. Sr. and Gladys J. Johnson.
