William "Bill" Humphreys, Jr.

March 22, 1960 — December 2, 2024

William “Bill” Oxley Humphreys, Jr., beloved husband, son, brother, brother -in-law, and friend died on Monday, December 2, 2024. He was 64.

Bill was born in Baton Rouge to Bill and Tommy Lee Humphreys. Throughout his life, he cultivated many friendships. Bill played organized team sports beginning in elementary school, excelling in baseball and football, earning the MVP football award his senior year of high school. He continued his education at LSU, where he met the love of his life, Sheryl Blanchard. After graduation, they married and he became an integral business manager of H&H Lure Co., a family business established by his father in 1959. Bill was well respected and knowledgeable in all aspects of the business from sales to manufacturing, ultimately advancing his career to the role of president.

Bill was an avid sports fan. He especially followed LSU and the New Orleans Saints evidenced by forty years of season tickets. He spent many years fishing and bird hunting in the marshes of south Louisiana, as well as Mexico. As a couple, Bill and Sheryl enjoyed traveling extensively. He liked music and movies, often quoting lines from many of them. He had a kind spirit, strong faith, and compassion for others. We are forever grateful for the fun, love, and laughter he brought into our lives.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sheryl Blanchard Humphreys; father, Bill Humphreys, Sr.; sisters, Holly Humphreys Hutchison (Hutch), Tommie Humphreys Maranto (John), Susan Humphreys Hightower (Jerry); brother-in-law, Charles John Blanchard, Jr.; nephews, Coyt Hutchison (Michelle), Stephen Miclette; nieces, Katy Hutchison, Emily Hightower McCollam (Alex) and Lauren Maranto White (Chandler); godchildren, Robyn Jones, Walker Jones, and Lauren Maranto White.
