God knew you were tired and said come with me. We know he only takes the best. You left us with wonderful memories and your love will continue to guide us. You will be in our hearts forever. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. A resident of Baton Rouge for 54 years, he died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at his home. He was 62 and a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Milford Walters. Survived by his wife of 37 years, Gail Hinds; daughter, Angie Hinds; son, Charles Metrailer III and wife Beth; two sisters, Joyce Collignon and husband Mike, and Sheila Boxill and husband Steve; two brothers, Don Hinds and wife Jeri, and Jon Hinds and Tammy Feldman; three grandchildren, Lauren, Katie and Emily Metrailer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Catherine Loy; maternal grandfather, Ocle Loy; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Grubbs; mother, Gwen Hinds; uncle and aunt, Clarence and Viva Tidwell. Pallbearers will be Charles Metrailer III, Don Hinds, Jon Hinds, Steve Boxill, Brad Boxill and Scott Barnes. He loved fishing and was a member of the Pelican Bass Club.
