William Higgins

William "Bill" Higgins, age 74, was welcomed into heaven Thursday, October 19, 2017 in his home surrounded by family and friends. Bill was born on May 18, 1943 and married the love of his life on January 26, 1963. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of few words, but spoke volumes. Bill was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge who graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1960 then went on to get his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from LSU. In addition he was a member of the Mechanical Engineering society. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum and retired from Jacobs engineering in early 2017.

Bill is survived by his wife, Katherine Burton Higgins; his three daughters, Donna Burdette and fiance' Gaston Olivas, Stacy Canella and husband Frank, Kathy Hudson and husband Marc; ten grandchildren, Frank Canella, Jr and wife Ashley, Troy Canella and wife Heather, Kristine Valencia and husband Shawn, Anthony Guelfo, Blake Hudson and wife Shannon, Austin Burdette and fiance' Cara Armanini, Cody Burdette, Ashley Hudson, Michael Daigle and Brennan Hudson. He was blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Lucca Covington, SJ Valencia, Emma Hudson, Skylar Burdette and Tate Valencia. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Nedra Guthans, Tim Higgins, Billy Higgins and wife Martele, Paul Higgins and Debi Russell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Edra Higgins; his brother, Bruce Higgins; and his brother-in-law, Vernon Guthans.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Ln, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 9:00am until Mass at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Pallbearers will be his three brothers and four grandsons.
