A resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died on September 1 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 60 and retired from Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway on Sunday, September 7 at 4pm-7pm and on Monday, September 8 from 9am until services at 11am. Conducted by Rev. Eric Berges. He is survived by his wife, Penny H. Ellis; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie E. Michael W. Day of Orlando, Florida, Danielle E. Eric Peters of Nashville, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, Elsie Noelle Day and Ellis Perrin Peters. Preceded in death by his parents, James R. Elsie F. Ellis. He was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church and Boy Scouts of America. He was an Eagle Scout. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Boy Scouts of America at www. scoutingfriends.org.
