William Bill Cecil Davis died peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 with his wife, Jeanne by his side. Bill was born in Grant County, Arkansas on March 25, 1936. After moving nine times during his childhood, he graduated from Memphis Central High School and earned a scholarship to play football at Mississippi State. Bill joined the US Army in 1956 and served in the Philippines. He later went on to graduate from USL. Bill spent most of his adult life in Lafayette, LA building a successful career in the restaurant business, raising his family, and serving his community. He loved fishing, hunting, reading, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends in Baton Rouge where he lived for the past 18 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jeanne his four children, Don, Bart, Dianne, and Greg his eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Kirby, William, Taylor, Marianna, Carter, Michael and Julia his brother, Bob Davis his sister, Marilyn Hunn and their families, all of Dallas. His heart is as big as his personality, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who had the good fortune to have known him. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 9 am until religious service at 11 am. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Lafayette, La. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517
