Steve Blount, 82, of Prairieville, Louisiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and their spouses. He was covered in love and prayer as Elvis Presley’s “Peace in the Valley” and “I Believe” played. God welcomed him into the gates of heaven with Elvis’s “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”. He was born November 8, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas. Steve attended Shongaloo High School where he made lifelong friendships that became his true family. Steve attended Northwestern State University, where he was President of the Student Government Association, Jr. President of the Student Council, Business Manager of the Potpourri Staff and a member of the Pi Omega Pi National Honorary Business Fraternity. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1965. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Talley. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Doss Blount; his daughter, Heather Blount Rougeou and her husband Todd; and his son, Bryan Blount and his wife Darlene; his beloved grandchildren Bre Blount Scott and her husband Hunter, Dawson Blount, Emma Grace Rougeou, Mattie Lynn Rougeou and William Thomas Rougeou; and was excitingly awaiting the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Tate.

Steve spent time as a featherweight boxer and was known for his powerful left hook. He entered into 67 fights, winning 63, including the Athletic Union State Championship in the lightweight division, He will be remembered as a great fighter with a kind heart. The biggest championship he ever won is his grandchildren, whom he loves dearly.
