Willard Thomas Lockhart passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 77, born Sept. 7, 1930. He was a graduate of Central High School, a U.S. Army veteran, a retired chemical analyst for Lonestar Industries and a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilda Strickland Lockhart; son, Dwight Thomas Lockhart and wife Alice, Jennings; two daughters, Donna Lockhart Hoglen and husband Dean and Carol Lockhart Hughes and husband Ron, Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Freddie Humphrey, Duane Humphrey, Daniel Humphrey, Dillon Kent Hoglen and Adam Joel Short; and brother, Gerald Lockhart and wife Ola. Preceded in death by his parents, Dwight Joel Lockhart and Elsie Aime Lockhart; and brother, Jack Lockhart. Memorial service to celebrate his life at Florida Boulevard Baptist Church, 10915 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, July 27, at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Louis Boyd. Visiting begins at 2 p.m. Private entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Arrangements by Resthaven Funeral Home.
