A native of Enon and a resident of Greenwell Springs, he passed away at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at his home at the age of 84. He retired from the Illinois Central Railroad, and was a Navy veteran and past president of the United Transportation Union. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road, on Wednesday, Feb. 29, from 11:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Mike Moroney. Interment at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Anna Jane Mizell two sons, Gerard F. Mizell and wife Susan, and Wiley W. Mizell Jr. a brother, Aubrey Mizell six grandchildren, Jessica Mizell, Janelle Mizell, Anna Mizell, Abigail Mizell, Aaron Ruiz, Marci Ruiz and six greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Julious and Amanda Mizell two sisters, Thelma Bell and Genevieve Sharp and seven brothers, Albert, Frank, Otto, Hayard, Varnel Lee, Elroy, and Delmas Mizell. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Zachary Tayor Post VFW.
