A retired Exxon electrician, he passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at the age of 87 at Baton Rouge General Medical CenterMid City. He was a resident of the Louisiana War Veterans Home, having served in the Seabees in World War II and was a Mason for more than 50 years. He was a former resident of Zachary and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m., conducted by Deacon Brent Duplessis. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survivors include his two sons and their spouses, Benny and Jeanne and Ellis and Ruth Whitehead four grandchildren, Jude, Natalie and husband Gary Bickham, Kymberli and husband Neal Dozier, and Hollie Whitehead and five greatgrandchildren, Seth, Mellia, Jackson, Laila and Blaine. He is also survived by lifelong friends and travel companions, Buford and Barbara Richardson Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Miller Whitehead parents, Ellis and Lillian S. Whitehead stepmother, Mable E. Whitehead six brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Benny, Ellis and Jude Whitehead, Gary Bickham, Neal Dozier, Buford Richadson Sr., Gary and Mike Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers are Seth Dozier, Jackson Whitehead and Blaine Bickham. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital , Memphis, Tenn.
