A retired cemetery grounds and maintenance supervisor at Resthaven Gardens of Memory for 52 years 1955-2007, he died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at 9:50 p.m. at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 72 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Sunday, Aug. 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Monday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by Bishop Gregory Cooper. Interment in the Cann Family Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Doris M. Cann; three daughters, Marilyn Cann, Linda S. Griffin and LoLita A. Forbes; two sons, Wilbert M. Cann and Floyd L. Smith Sr.; three sisters, Kenner Lockett, Freddie Thomas and Shirley Tillotson; and two brothers, William Cann Sr. and Henry Cann. Preceded in death by his father, Richard Cann Jr.; mother, Lacy S. Barrett; grandfather, Ernest Scott; and grandmother, Onner Johnson.
