A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at age 84, surrounded by his family. Though fatherless at age 8, he became the husband, father, and grandfather that most men could only hope to become. When World War II began, he joined the Navy at age 17 and served until the war ended. He married Anne, the love of his life, at age 19 and they spent 65 wonderful years together. To those who knew him, he was the kindest, most easygoing man they would ever meet. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard, following LSU football, and being with his family. He especially loved being with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Zumo Holeman daughter and soninlaw, Susan Holeman Merrick and husband Carl sons and daughtersinlaw, Randy and Suzie Holeman, and Jeff and Marcy Holeman daughterinlaw, Kim Holeman sister, Norma Browning grandchildren, Chrissy Evans, Dave Holeman, Michelle Dobbs, Chris Holeman, Alex Holeman, Alix Gottschalck, Emily Holeman, John Holeman, Jacob Holeman, Bradley Holeman, Melanie Holeman and William Holeman greatgrandchildren, Noah Evans, Jordyn Evans, Sophia HolemanGaley, Samantha Evans, Luke Evans, and Callum Dobbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren J. Sr. and Viola Holeman son, David Holeman, and sisters, Beverly Williams, Marguerite Browning, and Janice Browning. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Catholic Church at noon. Burial at the church cemetery.
