A reading teacher at Greenbrier Elementary School, she passed away at her home in Baton Rouge on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011. She was 60 and a native of Leakesville, Miss. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. until services at 2 p.m. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by her husband, Emmitt Simmons Jr. mother, Margarite Breland Johnson daughter and soninlaw, Alison and John Trey Ricaud III a son, Warren Paul Simmons sister, Margaret Shaddox brotherinlaw, Everett Ivan Simmons and wife, Sharon sisterinlaw, Susan Annette Simmons nephew, Alexander Simmons and fatherinlaw, Emmitt Simmons Sr. She was preceded in death by her father, Hubert Calvin Breland and motherinlaw, Margie Marie Coker Simmons. She was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church. She worked with autistic children as a reading coach, with the Mothers Day Out at Park Forest Baptist Church, at Manaview Elementary in Greenville, S.C., and at Jackson County Exceptional School in Pascagoula.
