Wanda Klimczak

Wanda Janet Boyle Klimczak, 81, passed away at her home in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bogalusa on Dec. 9, 1926, to the late Dewey William Boyles and Gladys Hilda Collins Boyles. On July 9, 1955, she married Joseph Stanley Klimczak in Bogalusa. She graduated from Bogalusa High School and received her bachelor's degree in home economics from Southeastern Louisiana College now University in Hammond. She did post-graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and received her master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. For 32 years, Mrs. Klimczak taught home economics in the Bogalusa city school system. She retired from teaching in 1980 and worked in the family owned JK Hardware Supply Co. In 2006, she and her husband relocated to Baton Rouge. A member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, Mrs. Klimczak served as its president. Mrs. Klimczak was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. In Bogalusa, she was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Oushola Chapter, serving as Regent from 1999-2000, and a member of the Society of Madison Family Descendents. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph Stanley Klimczak; and four children, Dawn Klimczak Knight and husband Wayne Johnson Knight, Baton Rouge, Dr. Joseph Craig Klimczak and wife Dr. Aimee Kleinpeter Klimczak, St. Louis, Richard Steven Klimczak and wife Renee Farace Klimczak, Houston, and Elizabeth Klimczak Harris and husband Kevin Lawrence Harris, Baton Rouge. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Stephen Collins Knight, Natalie Margaret Knight, Ann Elizabeth Harris, Victoria Francis Harris and Madeline Margaret Harris, all of Baton Rouge, Emily Knight Hammatt and husband Benjamin Scott Hammatt, Wilmington, N.C., Stephanie Cecile Klimczak, St. Louis, Richard Steven Klimczak Jr., and Madison Caroline Klimczak, Houston; and great-grandchild, Brady Scott Hammatt, Wilmington. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Klimczak was preceded in death by her toddler sister, Sybil Virginia Boyles. Visitation for Mrs. Klimczak will be at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., on Friday, June 13, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Fred Youngs, celebrant. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bogalusa Heart Study, 538 S. Columbia St., Bogalusa, LA 70427
