Wanda Chapman, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away Friday April 12, 2024, at the age of 84. Wanda was born in Breaux Bridge Louisiana, on August 2nd, 1939, daughter of the late Leo Seaborn Chitty and Birdie Martin Chitty.
Wanda was a devout Catholic and a cherished member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, finding solace and community in her faith. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, always present for every milestone and celebration. She held a deep love for her grandchildren, finding endless joy in their company.
Wanda is preceded in death by her first husband Joseph L. Allelo, parents Leo and Birdie Chitty, sisters Rita Chitty, Leona Yandle, and Rosalie Lambert, and brothers Whayne Chitty, Carl Chitty, and Irvin Chitty.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years Jim Chapman, her daughter Margo Otterstetter (Bobby), her son Michael Allelo, her daughter-in-law Haydee Allelo, her sister Mary Anne Thibodeaux, her brother Kenny Chitty, her grandchildren Addie Evans (Beau), Anna Gedney (Joey), Robby Otterstetter, Megan Otterstetter, Sophia Allelo and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at Baton Rouge General; the nurses, aids, and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice; Always Best Care Services; Father Brent Maher, Father Paul Clark, Deacon Mike and Deacon Brent, for all of their care and support during this difficult time.
The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Wanda to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 29, 2024. Visiting hours will be held from 9:30am until 11am at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Mass will be officiated by Father Paul Clark at 11am, with committal rites to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to St. Agnes Catholic Church, The Missionaries of Charity, or your nearest Carmelite Monastery in Wanda’s name.
