Walter R. Nichols
Walter rejoicingly entered the gates of Heaven and into his life of eternity on June 15, 2018. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have remained faithful." 2 Timothy 4:7. In celebration of his life, at age 86, we honor him. He was a man of faith in Christ and embraced his Savior with all his spirit, soul and body. Walter lived and breathed to know Him.
Walter was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of Gonzales, LA. He graduated from Istrouma High School and attended LSU. He retired from DSM Copolymer after 42 years of faithful service. He was a member of Lanier Baptist Church for 41 years. Walter and his wife, Jean, are charter members of HRRVC of Louisiana.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jean Stewart Nichols, who faithfully took care of him after having three stokes with all the love she could give him. He is also survived by his daughters, Reine Champton and Ronaele Brouillette and her husband Tim; sister and brother in law, Nelda and George Ross; brother and sister in law, Don and Emma Lou Nichols; Jean's children, Carolyn Cline, Dennis Stewart and Keith Stewart; along with numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl and Bertha Nichols, his daughter, Suzanne Nichols Boudreaux; grandson, Neal Brouillette and nephew, Wade Ross.
A special thanks to the staff of Ollie Steele Burden Manor for the care, love and special attention given to Walter.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home and Chapel located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers please make a memorial gift to Ascension Baptist Church (13432 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA 70737) toward the Building Fund.
