W.T. Trey McCay III, 40, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2009. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his beloved fiance, Carol Laurence Simon, of New Orleans; sister, Kelly Virginia McCay, of New Orleans; father, Wilton T. Tom McCay Jr., of Baton Rouge; and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Tunstall McCay, who was of Tensaw, Ala. Born in New Orleans in 1969, Mr. McCay resided with his family in Baton Rouge where he attended St. James Episcopal Day School. He returned to New Orleans and graduated from Isidore Newman School in 1987. He attended Tulane University, where he was president of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and earned a degree in electrical engineering in 1991. Mr. McCay operated Hoon's Automotive, specializing in the restoration of vintage British racing cars and had most recently founded an audio-visual installation company, Automatik Design. He produced and hosted a local podcast, Radio Chaos, and launched the Jag Board, an international Web site for Jaguar automobile enthusiasts. A talented musician and songwriter, Mr. McCay played with several rock 'n' roll bands, including Radio Ministry, Belfast Trafalgar, Jill, and Monkeyshines. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Trinity Church, 1329 Jackson Ave., New Orleans, on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. A true Irish wake will follow at the Hi-Ho Lounge, 2239 St. Claude Ave., New Orleans.
