Vonceile B. Patterson, loving wife and mother, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, in Baton Rouge. She was 82, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Panama City, Fla. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Albert Reese Pat Patterson; her four sons, Albert Reese Patterson III and wife Rebecca, David Arthur Patterson and wife Joyceann, Charles Richard Patterson and wife Rita, and Paul Robert Patterson and wife Cindy. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Brittany Elmore, Matthew Charles Patterson, Katherine Reese Patterson, Carrie Ann Patterson and Toni-Beth Patterson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Kettler Baxter and Ella Lillian Bryan Baxter; as well as her brothers, Sam Baxter and Jack Baxter; and sisters, Beatrice Pledger and Lillian Ann Hanson. Mrs. Patterson started her accounting career at Price Waterhouse in New York City. She continued her career in Tuscaloosa, Ala., until moving to Baton Rouge in 1955, becoming one of the first women licensed as a certified public accountant in the state of Louisiana. She was a longterm partner in the accounting firm of Hawthorn Waymouth and Carroll before opening her own private practice in the early 1970s. She was a founding member of the American Society of Women Accountants and a longtime member of Quota Club International. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 17, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 18, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Tim Lawson. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be her sons and Matthew Patterson and Greg Elmore.
