Violet Louise Saizon Cox, 87 years young, took flight to her heavenly home on Friday evening, March 4, 2017. Her passing was gentle, peaceful and sweet, and she was constantly surrounded by her family and friends all during her short hospital and hospice stay. Ever the sassy Saizon, she remained quick-witted, opinionated, bossy, funny, lovable, and endearing to all those who had the good fortune to meet her. With a servant's heart as big as Texas, she never met a stranger, never failed to feed a visitor, never missed an opportunity to help someone, and could outwork any man twice her size. Spunky and tough, gentle and caring, she gave all that she had to give in serving others.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles; son Norm Cox of Colleyville, TX; her grandsons, Andrew Cox and wife Erin of Lawrenceville, GA, and Robert (Bobby) Cox of Bedford, TX. She is the proud great-grandmother to Metta and Eden Cox, also of Lawrenceville, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Janie Saizon; her siblings, Cora Dixon, Cecile Gonzales, Erma McMurray, Willie Mae Deslatte, Daisy Rena Saizon, Byron Saizon, Floyd Saizon, Frank Saizon, and James Saizon.
A special thanks to the exceptional, kind, caring and professional staff and nurses at the Baton Rouge General Hospital and The Crossing at Clarity Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care while she was in their facilities.
