Viola "Vi" Laporte

November 9, 1938 — December 24, 2020

Viola Loupe LaPorte, affectionately known as Vi, was a resident of Baton Rouge, born and raised in New Roads, passed away on December 23, 2020 at the age of 82.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in New Roads, married to Alvin LaPorte, Sr., was instrumental in the start-up and growth of a successful business, Corporate Mechanical Contractors, now known as CMC Corporate Solutions, while raising three children.  She loved being with her family and especially spending time with family and friends in Bay St. Louis at their home away from home.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother

Vi is survived by her husband of 62 years Alvin J. LaPorte, Sr.; three children, Debbie Corsentino and husband Mike, Donna Gosserand and husband Paul, and Alvin LaPorte, Jr.; two sisters, Barbara (Bobbie) Laurent and husband Jerry Laurent,  Mary Lynn Amond and two brothers Dr. Jack F Loupe and wife Gayle Loupe and Dr. John F Loupe and wife Joel Loupe; five grandchildren, Gabrielle Diez and husband Vince, Dylan Corsentino and fiancé Hanna Pizzini, Brittany Gosserand, Brandi Gosserand, and Drew LaPorte; two sisters-in-law Lillian Loupe and Shirly LaPorte; brother-in law Donald LaPorte and wife Diane.

She was preceded in death by her father Joseph "Jack" Loupe, mother Viola Dabadie Loupe; father-in law Victor J. LaPorte, Sr., mother-in law Vivian Gautreaux LaPorte; two brothers Robert Loupe and Joseph Loupe, two brothers-in-law Wesly (Pap) Amond and Victor (VJ) LaPorte, Jr.

A private service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area, 3772 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, 70806, 225-334-7494,  www.alzbr.org in the name of Vi LaPorte.

The family of Vi LaPorte wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the tireless care givers who helped care for and comfort Vi, Total Live In Care, St. James Place, Hospice in His Care, Father Trey Nelson, and St. Jude Catholic Church.
