Vincent Michael "Mickey" Virga, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 13, 1932, to Lucian Paul and Mary Cricchio Virga.
Mickey was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who dedicated his life to his family. He loved sharing adventurous vacations, tennis lessons, and simple trips to “the club” with them. Mickey had a passion for tennis and was a long time member of Bocage Racquet Club. He will be remembered as an outgoing and fun-loving person who never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh or to crack a joke.
Mickey proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He then attended Louisiana State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. Mickey had a successful career in insurance where he had a reputation as a great salesman and consultant to his peers. In his retirement, he loved spending time socializing with friends and playing tennis at Bocage. He continued to play tennis well into his 80s and passed his love of the game down to his whole family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Lucian Virga. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Nancy Skidmore Virga; his children, Paul Virga, Paige Virga Raleigh (Coleman); his grandchildren, Brian Raleigh (Adam Gilbert) and Chris Raleigh (Mallory); and his three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Madison and William.
