Passed away quietly after a brief illness surrounded by loving family on March 6, 2014. Vernon was born June 20, 1963 the fourth child of Donald and Marian D. Hymel. He was preceded in death by his adored grandfather Marlin Mikel Mott DeArmond and Vernie DeArmond his grandmother, as well as his much loved mother Marian DeArmond Hymel. Vernon is survived by his wife Christine Romano Hymel, daughters Heather Fox, Hannah Hughes, Ashley Hunt, and Skyler Romano and sons Austin Brashier and Jared Romano. He is further survived by his Father Donald Hymel, Sr., and siblings Lynnette Johnson, Donald Hymel, Jr., and Michael Hymel with spouses also numerous, grandchildren, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Vernon served his country in the U.S. Navy first on the USS Guam and then the USS Forrestal. After being injured on active duty, Vernon was a 100 disabled veteran. Vernon will be cremated, and then buried after a brief graveside service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 12 noon.
