A homemaker and a volunteer Pink Lady with the Womans Hospital Auxiliary giving over 8500 hours, at the age of 77, unexpectedly, Valeria Freeman passed away from this life on Sunday, March 9, 2014. She is at peace now in heaven with her son. She was born on November 13, 1936 in Liberty, Mississippi to Asa and Odie Barkdull. At the age of 4, her mother died giving childbirth and then she was raised by her grandparents, Hattie and Ernest Caston. She moved to Baton Rouge after completing high school, met and married the love of her life. She is survived by her husband of fiftyeight years and one month, Thomas Reginald Freeman daughter and soninlaw, Theresa and Dan Martin two precious grandchildren, Christian Thomas Martin and Courtney Danielle Martin, who she always referred to as her heart and a sister, Fairy Joe Day. She is preceded in death by her son, Reginald Dwayne Freeman parents, Asa and Odie Barkdull and brother, Leroy Barkdull. Visiting will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 6 pm to 9 pm and will resume on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 9 am until funeral service at 11 am.
