Ulysse L. (“Bubba”), Pitre Jr., 96, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025
Born November 20, 1928, in Opelousas, Louisiana, he was the son of Ulysse Leonard Pitre Sr. and Regina Richard Pitre. Bubba attended Opelousas High School and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1952, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948, earning the WWII Victory Medal for his service.
Bubba enjoyed dancing, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Pitre; his sister, Wynona Seaney; his son, Mark L. Pitre; and his son-in-law, Steve Brown.
Bubba is survived by his second wife, Sarah Pitre; his sister, Cleo Bartlett; his children, Pamela Goynes and husband Eddie, Michael Pitre and wife Ann, Diane Brown, Denise Dennis and husband Mike, Stephen Pitre and wife Deborah, and Kenneth Pitre and wife Kristie; and his daughter-in-law, Gail Pitre.
He is also survived by his stepchildren, Byron Smith and Jan Clary, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Bubba’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Bubba will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge (Cancer Services).
