Trudy Seidel Jaques, age 73, passed away February 2, 2016.
Trudy was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, March 18, 1942, and is a native of Franklin, Louisiana.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Thomas F. Jaques; son, Michael T. Jaques; daughter-in-law, Gloria Simo Jaques, their children, Benjamin and Caroline; and son, Christopher S. Jaques; daughter-in-law, Valerie Dartez Jaques, their children, Susannah and Emily; and sister Leslie and her husband, Gary Juneau and their children, Stephen and Christopher.
Trudy was preceded in death by her father, Gerard Leslie Seidel and her mother, Inez LeBourgeois Seidel.
Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, La. is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 10:30 am until services at 12:30 pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016.
Trudy graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1964 and was granted a teaching certificate that year. She earned a Master's Degree in Library Science at Louisiana State University in 1972. An accomplished and successful librarian, Trudy held various positions, including Assistant Director of the St. Mary Parish Library, Librarian in the St. Mary Parish School System, Teacher in the Rapides Parish School System, Head of Technical Services at the Mississippi Research and Development Center in Jackson, Mississippi, Head Librarian of the Episcopal High School Library in Baton Rouge for 12 years, and Assistant Director of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library in Baton Rouge for 19 years, until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of the Louisiana Library Association, and Beta Phi Mu Honorary Scholastic Library Science Society. Trudy enjoyed her career in libraries, loved beauty in all forms, especially music and antiques, but took greatest delight in talking and laughing with family and friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge the generosity and love shown to Trudy by staff at Sunrise Assisted Living at Seigen, and to thank the staff of Hospice in His Care for their support and assistance.
