A resident of Lakeland, he died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Capitol House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 47 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, April 8, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ross Wales. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his mother, Dottie S. Purpera; father and stepmother, Frank and Anita Thompson; maternal grandmother, Florence Flo Noel; four sisters, Tanya Miletello, Becky Rushing, Bridget Oubre and Patricia Gordon; brothers, Tommy and Toby Thompson, Todd, Tony and Troy Purpera and Barry and Jimmy Moulder; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his stepfather, Leonard J. Purpera Jr.; and maternal grandfather, Edrop Blackie Savoie. Honorary pallbearers are Dayton Day-Day Purpera, Dillon Moore and Christopher Rushing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family for funeral expenses.
