Tracey Elofson

November 21, 1960 — January 23, 2015

Tracey Warren Elofson, 54, a beloved mother, wife, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2015.

After a 3 year courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) our dear Tracey is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Tracey, was born November 21, 1960 in Lafayette, LA and was the youngest child of Merle Flagg Warren and Melba Smith Warren. She moved to Baton Rouge at the age of 5 and was a graduate of the 1978 Class of Robert E. Lee High School. Tracey received her Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from LSU. By vocation, Tracey worked at Lanier Elementary and at Louisiana School for the Deaf for several years.

Her greatest work, was being a mother to her four wonderful daughters, Hope, Ashlyn, Megan and Kathleen Elofson. She was married for over 30 years to her best friend and the love of her life, Dr. Roger "Bucky" Elofson. Tracey lived a transparent, selfless life following our Lord's teachings making a difference in many lives. Her faith was lived out in the many ways she served others. She left a legacy of love through service at The Dunham School, co-leading woman's bible studies, coordinating The Chapel's Annual Women's Conference, leaving secret notes and gifts at the back doors to encourage others and other "Kingdom Play" activities reflecting Christ's love.

ALS did not diminish her kingdom thinking or prevent her from choosing joy each day. Tracey continued to rejoice in God's love and in her relationships. Our gifted wordsmith's blog, Twewordplay.com, became a place of community and encouragement for many from around the globe. Our precious servant's wisdom, smile, unconditional love, creativity, "happies" and encouragement will be dearly missed, but will live on through her family and friends through her intentional acts of loving others forward. "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. " James 1:12.

She is survived by husband, Dr. Roger "Bucky" Elofson; and her four daughters, Hope (26), Ashlyn (22), Megan (18) and Kathleen (14) Elofson; and her son by heart, Sean McCleary. She is also survived by her sister, Lucie Sherman and husband Don, of Germantown, Maryland; her brother, Toby and his wife, Char Warren of Auburn, Alabama; her special cousin, Shannon Smith; and many family and friends.

Tracey was preceded in death by her parents, Merle Flagg Warren and Melba Smith Warren.
