Thomas Joseph Waddick, age 76, a resident of Fulshear, Texas, passed away on June 23, 2021. Tom graduated from the University of Dayton in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and received his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1968. A Senior Staff Engineer with ExxonMobil for over fifty years, Tom held numerous patents and earned global awards associated with his work. During his final years at ExxonMobil, Tom enjoyed mentoring new engineers and lending a hand on global projects and in the chemical plants he helped to build.
Tom is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Vernice Helms Waddick; a daughter, Valerie Waddick-Sontag, and husband Bruce Sontag; stepdaughters, Patricia Norton Seiler, and husband Paul “Chip” Seiler, and Teresa Norton Smith; and brothers, James Waddick and Daniel Waddick (Blaire). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Dr. Emily Waddick, Tyler Waddick, Caleb Waddick, Zachary Sontag, Paul Seiler, Robert Seiler, Charles Forrest Smith, and Elliot Smith. Tom was adored by his five great-granddaughters: Lillian Seiler, Sophia Seiler, Elena Seiler, Cherin Smith, and Ella Smith.
Tom was preceded in death by his only son, Christopher Waddick, his parents, William and Mary Waddick, a brother, William Waddick, and a sister, Mary Weber.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home (Baton Rouge) on Saturday, July 3, 2021, from 1 pm until services at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
