Thomas ("Tom") N. Tully, Sr., passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the age of 86. He was born May 29, 1938, in East Chicago, Indiana. Tom moved with his family to Baton Rouge in 1953. That is where he met his wife Donna Fairchild to whom he was married for 67 years.
He graduated from Baton Rouge High School and served in the United States Marine Corps obtaining the rank of Sargent. His 40-year career was in industrial sales during which he worked for two companies. As the quintessential salesman, he was known for his impeccable dress and coiffed hair. While in sales he transferred to Maplewood, Louisiana where he and his wife met many life-long friends.
Tom was a very active father with his children and coached recreational football, basketball, and baseball while living in southwest Louisiana. He served as President of the Buc Backers, a parental support group at Broadmoor High School following his final move back to Baton Rouge. Upon retirement he purchased a motor home, traveled the country with his wife, and took an unforgettable adventure to the southwest with his grandchildren, visiting New Mexico and Colorado. Tom always enjoyed the simple, but finer things in life: a well-cooked steak, a good martini, and a Cuban cigar.
He is survived by his wife Donna Fairchild Tully; son Thomas N. Tully, Jr., and his wife Susanne Warren Tully; daughter Tamara Tully Balentine and her husband David Wayne Balentine; grandson Andrew Dwain Balentine and his wife Sarah Casper Balentine; grandson Brek Thomas Balentine; granddaughter Claudia Rose Tully; granddaughter Fiona Elizabeth Tully; great grandson John Bayer Balentine; great granddaughter Caroline Basil Balentine. He is also survived by his sister June Tully Malone. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Lawrence Tully Sr. and Rose Pavuk Tully; his brothers Joseph Lawrence Tully, Jr., Raymond Edward Tully, and sister Arlene (Sunny) Tully Smith.
The family would like to thank Hospice in His Care and his nurses, Jennifer and Lilly, who provided excellent care during his illness.
A private graveside service will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
