Thomas Jude DuBos, Sr, “Tom”, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2022, at the age of 89, surrounded by his immediate family. Tom was born on August 6, 1933, in New Orleans, LA. He attended parochial schools in Monroe and New Orleans, LA, and the Saint Joseph Seminary in Saint Benedict, LA. He earned the Bachelor of Business Administration in 1955, and the Juris Doctor in 1957, both from Loyola University of New Orleans. He had a successful career in the field of tax law, which took him to several states and foreign countries, retiring in 1989 to Baton Rouge where he lived the remainder of his life.
Tom was a loving, devoted husband, father, family member and friend who gave freely of his time and resources. Known as a talented dancer and effervescent humorist, Tom was the life of any function he attended. An observant member of his Catholic faith, he was a long-time parishioner and eucharistic minister at Saint Jude’s, and a volunteer tax preparer in the Baton Rouge library system.
Tom was preceded in death by son Steven James DuBos; his parents, Clarence James DuBos and Mattie Gillen DuBos; brothers, Clarence, Marvin, Daniel and Mickey DuBos. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Joan Schexnyder DuBos; daughter, Barbara DuBos Critchlow (Jonathan); sons Thomas Jude DuBos, Jr. (Diane), Lance Andrew DuBos (Regina); and Bryan Paul DuBos (Nancy); grandchildren, Sarah DuBos Budrow, Megan DuBos, Austin Critchlow, Jackson DuBos, Lauren DuBos, and Aimee DuBos; brother, Robert DuBos; sisters, Jacqueline DuBos deBoisblanc and Julie DuBos Meese; numerous nieces and nephews. His family wishes to extend a special thanks to all his caregivers, especially at Magnolia Brook and The Crossing at Clarity Hospice.
A Graveside Service will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to St. Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict, LA.
