Thomas Finely Carroll, Sr. died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at the Butterfly Wing of Hospice of Baton Rouge, after several years at Ollie Steele Burden Manor, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was born in Center, Texas, on November 16, 1939 to his parents, Alma Katherine Bounds Carroll and Robert Finley Carroll, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Natchitoches, Louisiana and lived for many years in Jackson and Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was 69 years old, and was retired form Shell Oil Company and Qwest Communications. He did contract work as a petroleum land man for many years. His wife, Kathleen Whalen Carroll, preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons, Jonathan Brendon and wife, Tracy, of Austin, Texas; Thomas Finely, Jr. and wife Tamara, of Houston, Texas and David Whalen and wife, Alice, of Metairie, Louisiana, and 5 grandchildren: Nathan, Kathleen, Dillon, Riley and Colt. He is survived by three sisters: Mary and husband, Rudy Landry; Martha and partner, Sandra Stratton; and Joycelyn and husband Mike Hebert, and one brother, Robert Finely Carroll and wife Carla, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25 at 11am at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The family will receive visitors from 10am, one hour prior to the service. Mr. Carrolls sister, Reverend Martha Carroll, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Seigen Lane, Suite A, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70816.
