in Baton Rouge, LA. He was born on October 16, 1953 in Hibbing, Minnesota as the youngest of a family of four children. His family moved to Black River Falls, Wisconsin and he graduated from the Black River Falls High School in 1971. He went on to study mechanical engineering at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he earned a Masters degree.
He moved to Baton Rouge in 1976, to begin work for ExxonMobil, where he remained until his retirement as a St. Project Manager in 2009. In the course of his career he worked in Nigeria, Thailand, China, England and other fascinating places in his capacity of project engineer. Tom was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of our Saviour, and a member of its choir.
He is survived by his wife of three years, Kay Caroon son, Patrick Jason PJ Caroon step children, Jeremy Benson and Shelby Benson and sisters, Joan Caroon, Janet Evans, Donna Bergmark. Preceded in death by his parents, Irma and Ray Caroon.
Visiting hours will be observed at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 3555 Jones Creek Rd., Baton Rouge, on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 9:00 am until service time. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, conducted by Reverend Kim LittleBrooks. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lutheran Church of Our Saviour Church.
