Theresa Marix

Theresa Ann Rivet Marix, age 70, native of Plaquemine, LA, and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on October 24, 2015, surrounded by family.

Ann received her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Psychology from LSU. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for 50 years, volunteered at Vacation Bible School regularly, and cared for the elderly throughout her adult life.

Ann enjoyed gardening, reading, creative writing, and vacationing in Colorado. She remained close with her classmates and got together often over the years. Ann never met a stranger and always put others first. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Joe Marix, Jr.; daughter, Jennifer Marix-Fisher and husband David; grandson, Dane; sister, Sylvia Rivet; sisters-in-law, Shirley Rivet and Martha Sprague; numerous nieces and nephews; "adopted" sister, Paula Zito Alexander; her beloved sisters and brothers of the St. John Class of 1963 (Plaquemine) and the treasured friends she met along the way; and cat, Jolie.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence "Dego" and Violet Rivet; and brothers, Nolan Rivet and Roland "Dougie" Rivet.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 57805 Main Street in Plaquemine, LA 70764, from 12:00 pm until Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Special thanks to the staff and volunteers on the fifth and sixth floor of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Dr. Hanson, Judy Owens, Dr. Lyons and team, Dr. Raven and team, Dr. Walsh and team, Hospice of Baton Rouge, and Nurse Ashley.
