She worked for Dr Neal Simons ENT practice in Whitehall, WI as well as the Hospital in Sleepy Eye, MN. She moved to San Diego, CA in 1948 and there worked as a Private Duty Nurse until she took a nursing position at the San Diego Children’s Hospital during the Polio epidemic where many very young children were hospitalized with this disease. It was during this time that she met and married Glen R Foust on July 9, 1950 (her parent’s 31st anniversary). He was in the Navy and stationed in San Diego. A young man from Lake City, TN, Glen joined the Navy right out of high school during World War IIand served in the Navy for over 37 years. After marriage, Theresa continued to work at the Children’s Hospital until 1952 when their daughter was born and died shortly after birth. In 1953, Terry went to work for Pacific Telephone. While working for the telephone company, she took classes at San Diego Junior College and Graduated in 1963 with Honors. She transferred to San Diego State University and graduated in Business Management in 1975. In December 1979, she retired from Pacific Telephone after 26 years of service.

After they both retired, they bought Glen’s family home on Savage Garden Rd in Lake City, TN. Terry and Glen lived there from 1981 until 2004 when they decided to travel for awhile. They lived in Laughlin, NV for 6 months and then in Clinton, TN for 6 months depending on the season. On Veteran’s Day Nov 11, 2010, Glen passed away at the medical center hospital in Bullhead City, AZ after suffering a massive heart attack.  Terry placed Glen’s ashes in St Joseph Catholic Church columbarium in Clinton, TN and continued to reside there for 9 more years. She had several friends at St Joseph Catholic Church who helped her so much as time went on especially Sally Jackson, Kathy Cloutier, Bob and Nikki Kapolka.

In July 2019 Terry was moved to Baton Rouge, LA to be near her niece, Amelia (Amy) Lawler and husband Joseph (Joe) Lawler. She thoroughly enjoyed and loved her Nursing Assistant from Caring Angels Ltd., Machelle. Thank you for making her smile, laugh, dance and really enjoy the last 2 years of her life! She also loved her nurse, Nancy, the owner of Caring Angels. Much thanks also to Lake Sherwood Village Retirement Community in Baton Rouge for providing a wonderful apartment for Terry and responding to her needs. To the nurses and aides with Bridgeway Hospice Care – especially her nurse, Allison, and her aide, Tee, there is a special place in heaven for both of you! Thank you so much to Fidelis House EA for the wonderful assisted living experience and its amazing manager, Valencia – Lady you are an angel! Medication Nurses from Curae’ were also so very kind and patient.  Terry’s family wishes to thank her friends and healthcare personnel in Tennessee and Louisiana for helping her to enjoy the time she had left so very much.
