Theodore Joseph Ted Hoz passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 3, 2012, following many years of failing health. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home on Saturday, July 7, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with services following at 11:00. Born June 11, 1932, in Harahan, Louisiana, Ted was the son of Telesfordo Bienvenido Hoz and Justine Hoz. From an early age, Ted demonstrated a strong drive to succeed. He worked to put himself through school at Louisiana State University LSU and graduated from Centenary College with a Bachelor of Science in geology. After working for many years for the Gulf Oil Company, Ted founded his own business, Ted J. Hoz and Associates, Consulting Geologists. Specializing in oil field utilization, the company operated offices in Lafayette and New Orleans and served clients nationwide. His success in business allowed Ted to provide generously for his immediate family, including supporting his mother and his sister in their later years, as well as establish generous college savings funds for his grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. Ted was an avid golfer, spending much of his spare time on the course at the Country Club of Louisiana, where he was awarded the clubs inaugural Sportsman of the Year Award. Ted was also known for his extensive collection of logo and autographed golf balls, which was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest golf ball collection in the world. Over the years, family, friends, and golfers from around the globe sent Ted new golf balls to add to his evergrowing collection. Ted also enjoyed LSU sports, following the Tigers in football, basketball, and baseball. In his final days, Ted reached out to those he loved, ensuring they knew how much he cared about him and what they had meant to him over the years. Ted Hoz was preceded in death by his parents his sister, Gloria M. Hoz and his stepgrandson, Ryan Kirkpatrick. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Penny Desonier Hoz his son, Ted E. Hoz of Houston, Texas his stepdaughter, Susan Kirkpatrick of Baton Rouge his stepson and daughterinlaw, Stephen and Marlo Kirkpatrick of Madison, Mississippi his granddaughter, Cassandra Hoz his grandson, Chris Hoz his stepgrandson and granddaughterinlaw, Sean and Erin Kirkpatrick his stepgrandson, Ian Kirkpatrick and his stepgreatgrandson, Tom Kirkpatrick. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
