In loving memory of Terry Townes Robert, who departed this world at the age of 76 on January 15, 2024. Her life was defined by profound love, devotion, and an unwavering faith in God that will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew her.
Terry, affectionately known as "Mom" for 58 years and "Maw Maw" for 32, radiated a unique warmth that transformed these family-given titles into more than mere names. She wholeheartedly preferred "Maw Maw", and often referred to herself in the third person, as if the world and Heaven itself must recognize her by that cherished name.
Born to her parents, Virginia McClendon and Harvey Townes Jr., Terry is survived by her siblings: Jay Townes, Judy Bratcher, Valerie Hill and her husband Norm, Cassie Oliver, Robin Borstler, and Skipper Townes and his wife Melissa.
At the heart of her life's story was her beloved husband, Oliver “Tucker” Paul Robert Jr., who spent 49 wonderful years by her side until his passing in 2014. Together, they created a life full of triumph, courage, and love that became the cornerstone of their family's history. Their legacy extended to their treasured children, including Kevin James Robert and his wife Teresa, Jennifer Robert Sibley, and David Raymond Robert and his wife Lauren.
The very essence of Terry’s life was her cherished grandchildren; Haley Soileau, Molly Ryan, Anna Katherine Knaps, Hayden Robert, Christian Sibley, Holden Robert, Benjamin Molesini, Mathew Robert, Isabela Robert, and Oliver Goetzman. Terry’s great-grandchildren, Grant, Emerson, Mary Mitchell, Tatum, and Katherine were her source of endless joy. Even in her later days, when the passage of time had blurred her memory, the presence of a child never failed to bring a radiant smile to her face.
Throughout her life, whether she was bustling in the kitchen, brewing a daily third pot of coffee, curling her hair, or holding her little ones close, Terry filled the air with a heartfelt chorus of "do do do's." These wordless melodies became a source of enduring comfort and joy for those around her. Her voice is a song that will resonate in the memories and hearts of those who love her, forever.
Terry was a fighter, if not always for herself, then for the ones she loved. When confronted with a dire prognosis of a six-month life expectancy in 2012, she defied the odds and continued to be the steadfast matriarch of her family for another 12 years. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the years of past-care provided by Sister Dulce Maria and the doctors and nursing staff at Ochsner and Our Lady of the Lake hospitals. Thank you to the Catholic Church who embraced Terry with open arms and to Pastor Bill Pruitt and the congregation at Graceworks Church for uplifting her in trying times. Finally, to the many angels that came into Terry’s life through Landmark South Nursing Home, including Shantel and Lacy, thank you for your endlessly compassionate care.
