It is with unspeakable sadness that we announce the passing of Taylor Renée Melançon on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the age of 10.
A radiant light in the lives of everyone who knew her, Taylor was the embodiment of kindness, joy, and love. Beautiful inside and out, Taylor’s photogenic smile could light up any room, but it was her heart of gold and genuine kindness to everyone she met that made her truly unforgettable.
Nicknamed “Tay Tay,” she brought energy and enthusiasm to everything she did. Her passion for music and dance shined brightly through her time at Revolution Dance, which is where she found her confidence. Taylor also enjoyed cheering on the MBS Pep Squad and playing volleyball, always bringing her unique spirit to the team. A creative soul, Taylor loved arts and crafts, as well as baking and decorating cakes. While she was a devoted daddy’s girl, she wanted to be right next to her mom doing everything she did. Taylor had a special bond with her family that will forever be cherished.
Taylor was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Mary Louise Ratcliffe, her grandfather, Michael Valentine Aureli, and her aunt, Kathy Ratcliffe.
Taylor is survived by her parents, Paul and Courteney Melançon; her brother, Jean Paul Melançon; her grandparents, Sharon Aureli “LaLa,” Adam Ratcliffe “Bubba,” Deanna Ratcliffe “Dee Dee,” Marsha Melançon “Mere Mere,” and Stephen Melançon “Pere Pere;”, her great-grandmother, Dorothy Clark; her uncle and aunts Hunter Ratcliffe, Mary Grace Ratcliffe, Anna Melancon, Joseph Melancon, and Kristen Melancon, and numerous other loving family members and friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; Rev. Todd Lloyd; Bishop Francis Malone from Shreveport, Louisiana; Father Joseph de Orgebozo from Little Rock, Arkansas; the “Cool Moms;” Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School; and the 5th Grade MBS Class.
