Tana Tackett

August 23, 1955 — October 15, 2017

Welcomed by her beloved son and daughter in Heaven, Tana Dianne Bush Tackett left the physical world at Butterfly House in Baton Rouge just after 4:30 pm on Sunday, Oct 15. She was 62 years young and a superb example of the polite, genteel and charming Southern girl. A native of Bogalusa, LA, raised in St. Francisville, she was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Those who wish are invited to remember and bid farewell to this remarkably loving and spiritual woman from 12-2 pm Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Resthaven Funeral Home located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, immediately followed by burial at the nearby Resthaven Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest alongside her son and daughter. She was a joy to know and blessed any and everyone with her radiant, dimpled smile. Comments on her social media page reporting her illness and death repeatedly proclaimed she was an "inspiration" to many current young adults who attended Sunday School classes during her numerous years of teaching. Adjectives "courageous," "beautiful," "gentle spirit" and on and on in that same vein were reported. One wrote, "Heaven must be rejoicing." Proud to have been part of her life, Tana is survived by her husband of 43 years, Kenneth Russell Tackett Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Kristen T. and Eddie Manes of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Ellen and James Manes; sisters Susan A. Bush of Baker and Kimberly Bush of Bath, ME; brother and sister-in-law C.E. "Gene" and Mary H. Bush of Tunica; niece Katie Hankins of Litchfield, ME; nephews Jason, Matthew and Brennan Bush of Tunica; sister-in-law Debbie Tackett of Pineville; niece-in-law and husband Susan T. and James White of Deville; nephew-in-law and wife David and Ashley Tackett of Alexandria; friends and in-laws Tim and Linda Manes of Baton Rouge; numerous loving uncles, aunts, cousins; a multitude of dear friends; and her fur-baby Sophie. She is preceded in death by her 16-year-old son Kenneth Russell Tackett III, her 17-year-old daughter Katheryn Ruth Tackett, her nephews Austin Wade Bush and Greyson Michael Kennett, and her parents Ellen Sue Walters Bush and Clarence E. Bush Sr. She was a long-time member of Chapelwood Church of God in Denham Springs, pastored by Brother Glenn Kirby who will conduct services. Thanks to dedicated doctors Lauren Zatarain, Mindy Bowie, Charles G. Woods, the special nurses and staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, supportive and comforting nurses Camille and Suzi of Notre Dame Hospice, the special staff of the local American Cancer Society, loving members of her congregation, and anyone offering treatment, care and prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local ACS, 10528 Kentshire Court, Baton Rouge, LA 70810, specifically targeted for the research and defeat of "triple negative" cancer. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.
