Sylvia Laurent

Visitation for Sylvia Laurent will be held Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, at Resthaven funeral home from 5 to 8 pm and continue Monday morning from 9:30 to 10am. Recitation of the Holy rosary will begin at 10:00 am, followed by services and burial at Resthaven.

Sylvia Rodosta Laurent, 86, passed away Jan.1, 2023 at Our Lady of the Lake, surrounded by her 3 sons. She is proceeded in death by her brother, Frank Rodosta, father, Joseph Rodosta, and devoted husband of 67 years, Leo Laurent.

Sylvia was born June 4, 1936 in Plaquemine, La. After graduating from Istrouma High school, she married the love of her life and started a family together.

Sylvia enjoyed her time working at McDonalds, then Service Merchandise until their closing.  Sylvia loved traveling with pawpaw Leo watching him play softball and their annual trips to watch the leaves change colors. Mawmaw always had an LSU game on TV and loved bird watching and identifying the species.

Those left to keep her memory alive, include sons Michael (Karla), Darryl (Tricia) and Rodney (Patty). Granddaughters Rachel Laurent, Tonya Fullerton, Betsy LeBlanc, Angelle Nguyen, and Monique Laurent and grandsons, Stephen, David and Patrick Laurent. Mawmaw Sylvia had 5 great grandchildren, Jayke and Tess Fullerton, Jackson and Max Galante, Grayson Nguyen, and “more on the way”.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be her 3 grandsons and great grandsons. The family thanks Above and Beyond Sitter Services for the endless love and support shown to mawmaw Sylvia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
