Susan Kathleen Piacquad Mondello, age 63, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on January 26th, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center. Prior to moving to Baton Rouge, she lived for many years in Atlanta, GA and Shreveport, LA.
Susan was known for her loving and unselfish care for her mother and brother during their lengthy illnesses while living in Atlanta. She was also known for her artistic and musical abilities, her love of animals, as well as her innate send of curiosity and lifelong love of learning. She was an outstanding student, graduating cum laude from St. Mary's College and also earning an MBA from LSU-Shreveport while carrying a 4.0 GPA.
Born in Hackensack, NJ, on Nov. 25, 1953, she grew up in Maywood, NJ, Devon, PA, and Hudson, OH, before graduating cum laude from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, IN in 1975 with a degree in business. She then went on to a fine career in both public accounting as a CPA and also as a certified internal auditor, specializing in fraud detection. She was a frequent speaker at Georgia State University on the subject of fraud.
Susan is survived by husband Joseph Mondello, daughter Alice Burke and husband Louis of Baton Rouge, beloved granddaughter Hailey, sister Maria Malone and husband Randy of Edmond, OK, brother David Piacquad and wife Nina of Westlake Village, CA, sister-in-law Martha Leen Piacquad of Newburyport, MA, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Anna and Alfonso Piacquad and brothers Joseph Piacquad and Robert Piacquad.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4th, 2017 at the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Susan to the American Cancer Society, the Thomas G. Lebrecque Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry of the Poor, or to the charity of your choice.
Susan was deeply spiritual and was an ardent follower of Edgar Cayce and a lifetime member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment.
