Susan Hart

Susan Wilson Hart, age 68 and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on October 6th after a brief battle with cancer.

Born and reared in Meridian, MS, Susan received both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She spent her entire professional life as an educator, mostly in the Ascension Parish School system, teaching many ages and grade levels with a primary focus on Special Education. After a 35+ year teaching career, Susan retired just a few years ago from Dutchtown High School. An avid reader, Susan was always seeking knowledge, especially when it came to her faith as a Christian. “Sue Sue,” as her grandkids called her, had a great passion for shopping, Diet Coke, and sports, especially swimming, baseball, and football.

Susan is survived by two children: her son Franklin Hart and his wife Natalie, and her daughter Sara Hart and boyfriend Joshua DeRouen; the father of their children, Dathan Hart; sisters Cassie Kauerz and Clair Bradley; and grandsons Phillip and Patrick Hart (Franklin’s sons).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Norvin and Sara Nell Wilson, and her siblings, Jennifer Ford and Thomas Wilson.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Friday, October 15th from 12:30 PM until services begin at 2:30 PM. Memorial will follow at Resthaven.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Broadmoor Baptist Church or Jefferson Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
